Lucky Goat Coffee is officially open in Destin, Florida! I recently stopped by for the ribbon-cutting, and between the fall menu, a pastry case stocked by two beloved local bakeries, and a family that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit, it has already earned a spot in my rotation. Local coffee shops are my happy place and this one checks all the boxes: genuinely good coffee, welcoming atmosphere and a real sense of community. 

Located within City Market Beachside, Lucky Goat brings Florida-roasted coffee, seasonal drinks, local treats, and a welcoming new space to the Emerald Coast. The Destin location is owned by Tom and Koley Houle, who are bringing the Lucky Goat brand to the area with a focus on coffee, community, and genuine hospitality.

Meet the Family Behind Lucky Goat Coffee Destin

One of my favorite parts of this new coffee shop is the family behind it.

Tom and Koley Houle are a husband-and-wife team who recently brought their family back to Florida after five moves in ten years. They live locally with their 8-year-old daughter, Ophelia, and are excited to put down roots and build a family business in the community.

After spending some time in the shop, it’s easy to see how much they care about creating a place where people feel welcome.

Their goal isn’t simply to serve coffee. They want Lucky Goat to become a gathering place for friends, families, neighbors, and local businesses.

What to Order at Lucky Goat Coffee in Destin

The coffee menu has plenty to choose from whether you’re a serious coffee drinker or just looking for something fun and seasonal.

One of Lucky Goat’s specialties is its Nitro Cold Brew, which you can order straight or turn into a Luckyccino with vanilla cream. If you’re looking for even more caffeine, the Goat Bomb adds a double shot of espresso. I recommend topping your drink with a flavored cold foam (the brown sugar was delicious!). 

Beyond cold brew, the menu includes espresso drinks, classic favorites like cortados, Signature Lattes, drip coffee, single origin coffees, chai, matcha, teas, and rotating seasonal drinks, so there is always something new to try.

Sweet & Savory Treats From Local Bakeries 

One detail that made me immediately fall in love with Lucky Goat is that they partnered with two local bakeries for their pastry case. They could easily have brought in treats from anywhere, so seeing local favorites represented here is a nice way to connect Lucky Goat to the community it is joining.

The donuts come from Heirloom Donuts in Santa Rosa Beach, and the pastries are from Blue Mountain Bakery, a longtime favorite for so many locals over on 30A. The egg, cheese, and sausage roll was delicious, and I also loved the croissant and glazed donut. There are plenty of gluten-free bakery options too!

A Little Something to Take Home  

Lucky Goat also makes it easy to bring a little bit of the shop home with you, and the pretty wall display is definitely worth a slow browse. Rows of bagged whole bean coffee line the shelves, from the Billy Goat breakfast blend to their seasonal Pumpkin Spice. You will also find branded mugs, cups, shirts, hats, and more. Some of my favorite items are the Autumn Monin gourmet flavoring set and the pumpkin spice candle. And don’t forget your pup! There is a plush coffee cup toy for your furry friend too.

More Than Great Coffee

Community is a big part of Lucky Goat’s mission, with an established focus on philanthropy, local partnerships, coffee donations, and community events. The Destin location plans to continue that tradition by working with local businesses and organizations, something Tom and Koley are clearly excited about!

Their vision for Lucky Goat is a place where people can meet up, families can gather, business ideas can happen, and neighbors can become familiar faces. After visiting, I think the space lends itself really well to exactly that.
