Destin Through a Local’s Eye: Coastal Moke Owner Hannah Vaughan

If you’ve spent any time in Destin, you’ve probably spotted those colorful, open-air Mokes zipping around town with a vibe that screams vacation mode. Behind the wheel of that movement is Hannah Vaughan, a young entrepreneur who turned her love for the coast into Coastal Moke—the city’s coolest (and cutest) way to cruise. Whether you’re headed for cocktails by the water, a hidden beach spot, or just riding with no set destination, Hannah’s favorite local hangs are all about soaking up the sun and enjoying the ride. Whether you’re a Destin local or vacationing along the Emerald Coast, here are a few of Hannah’s go-to places for dining, shopping, and soaking up the sunshine.

Formula Fresh

Located in Destin Commons, Formula Fresh is a great spot for smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices, and quick, healthy bites before or after the beach. The bright, fresh flavors make it a refreshing break from the sun.

Innerlight Surf Shop

While you’re at Destin Commons, stop by Innerlight Surf Shop. It has a great selection of beachwear, bikinis, gear, and coastal lifestyle finds. Whether you’re looking for a Destin souvenir or picking up a new swimsuit, Innerlight is a family owned business that captures the laid-back spirit of the Gulf Coast.

Sando’s Beachside Bar

Enjoy laid-back dining with craft cocktails and unbeatable beach views. Sando’s is located right across from the beach along Scenic Hwy 98, so you can watch the waves or sunset as you sip on a tropical drink from the upstairs bar. Downstairs you’ll find the cafe serving great sandwiches and coffee.

The Back Porch

A longtime Destin favorite, The Back Porch offers Gulf-front dining with fresh seafood and a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re craving oysters or an Amberjack sandwich, this is a must-try.

Burrito Del Sol

Pull up in your Moke and dive into Baja-style burritos, tacos, and nachos packed with flavor. With a laid-back vibe and bold, fresh ingredients, it’s a casual local gem that hits the spot every time.

Ice Cream Shoppe

Cool off after a sunny beach day with a scoop (or two) of classic ice cream favorites. From waffle cones and sundaes to chocolates and fudge, Ice Cream Shoppe is a sweet stop for families and beachgoers. Plus the cute, pink atmosphere is perfect for a picture!

Norriego Point

Located at the tip of Holiday Isle, Norriego Point offers panoramic views of East Pass and the jetties, with calm waters perfect for snorkeling or paddleboarding. It’s a great place to relax and watch the boats go by!

Rent a Moke

Whether you’re a local wanting to cruise around in style or a bachelorette party looking for an Instagram-worthy ride, these cute cars will elevate your beach experience! These electric Moke cars are the perfect alternative to traditional golf carts, offering a unique way to cruise around Destin or 30A. You’re guaranteed to turn heads as you visit local hot spots! The Coastal Moke fleet features several colors including pink, light blue, white, yellow, mint, and orange. You can book directly on the website or call/text 850-865-0423.
