Who says crafts are just for kids? As adults, our to-do list seems to take priority and we rarely give ourselves permission to slow down and create just for the fun of it. But thanks to two Destin locals, there’s now a space for grownups to get creative, be present, and connect with others in our community.
It all started when local Destin artist Marilu Morgan and Mackenzie Destin, owner of East Pass Coffee Co., were doing art projects together with their kids. When the kids wandered off, Marilu and Mackenzie kept going and started talking about how they wished there were more chances for grownups to get together, play, and be creative. Shortly after, that spark of an idea became something real: a monthly Craft Club, hosted at East Pass each Fall and Winter, where a different local artist leads a relaxed, hands-on workshop.

Last year I went to a Craft Club event where Marilu taught us how to paint champagne bottles and it was such a fun experience (check out this Reel). Sitting around a table with other women from our community, chatting, laughing, helping each other pick colors, focusing on creating instead of the to-do list was exactly what I needed. Everyone there already had something in common: the desire to make space for creativity again.
Craft Club is open to all skill levels, all materials are provided, and drinks from East Pass are available for purchase. It’s held from 5:30pm to 7:30 p.m., usually on the first or second Thursday of the month. Want to join us? Tickets are released to Marilu’s email subscribers (sign up here!) on the 1st of each month and then opened to the public via her social media and website. It’s simple, low-pressure, and full of heart—just like crafting used to be.
